My Life Beeps At Me: How I Remember

I Won’t Forget!

Have you noticed that everything beeps these days? My stovetop, oven, washer, dryer microwave, cell phone, cordless phone, and car all beep. My fridge even beeps if the door doesn’t close. These beeps are reminders to shut doors, buckle up, unload, recharge and shut down.

Reminding Myself

If that isn’t enough, I create ways to beep at myself. My life has come to depend upon my scheduling software. I schedule every meeting & to-do I have into my calendar. With most of them I use the “reminder”. It has saved my butt more times that I want to admit to.

Now, using this kind of reminder method is good, but it still depends on input. The infamous “Garbage In, Garbage Out” motto rings no truer that on my desktop scheduler. Basically, I have to put it in there, with the right timing and information (time zones are a killer) to get it right.

Daily Check-In

Although all of these appointments and meetings are very important my most important reminder is my morning check-in. That is set for 5:30 AM and is the first thing I see when I open my laptop. I have just revised it this week for the New Year (is it still new?).

This is what I include in my daily check-in:

1. Gratitude: What am I grateful for in that moment?

2. Evidence: What did I manifest yesterday?

3. Intention For Today: What do I want for today?

4. Who will I bless today?

This doesn’t have to take more than five minutes. It isn’t something I “think” through, it comes from within. There is no right or wrong other than you must focus on the positive.

Gratitude can be for the sunshine, someone you love, fresh water, heat, or anything that you can think of in that moment. You will surprise yourself.

Evidence is so important to keep you in line with your intentions. We get wrapped up in the big things and forget that we create everyday, small miracles. You manifest wonderful things and don’t even notice it. Sometimes what seems like a negative event can be turned into something positive.

For example, I had a client cancel on Monday at the last minute. I celebrated the opportunity to have a free hour to write and came up with some great inspired ideas.

Intentions for the day. This is where we kick off the autopilot, the rushing around everyday “doing” and deliberately create the day we want. Our intentions can include good interactions with clients, inspired work, loving moments, tenacity to get through a task, and of course, more joy!

Blessings. I came across The Bless You Project created by Kimmie Rose. What a wonderful, touching idea she has come up with. If you haven’t heard of her or the project take a few minutes to look at her site. For me in order to bless someone I will give them my attention, energy and focus and find a way to make them feel loved or cared for by me. Each day I will choose someone, it can be the same person all week or month if that is what you want to do, just be intentional about it.

Create Accountability

Now here is the final task, this is a daily e-mail. Find at least two people to share this with. Some may want to join you or just be recipients but the idea is to be sending this to someone who will expect it and give you a feeling of accountability.

I encourage you to try this and let me know how you make out! I can guarantee this is a great way to reduce your daily struggles and help you Attract More Joy!
